The knowledge base function of 3Chat Agent allows you to upload files in multiple formats to the system and perform intelligent retrieval by specifying retrieval modes and configurations. You can customize language, filter content, set the number of recalls, etc., to optimize the accuracy and relevance of query results.
With efficient knowledge base management, you can ensure that the agent obtains accurate and up-to-date knowledge, improving customer support efficiency and response quality.
2. Quick Operation Guide
2.1 Enter the Function Page
- Log in to the 3Chat Agent Management Console.
- In the navigation bar, select Knowledge Base → Knowledge Content to enter the knowledge base management page.
2.2 Add Knowledge Base
When you first enter the knowledge base page, there is no content. Click the “Add” button in the upper right corner of the knowledge list to add your first knowledge document.
2.3 Upload Files
- On the knowledge base page, click the “Add” button to open the file upload box.
- Click to upload or drag the files you want to upload. Multiple file formats are supported, including:
- TXT, Markdown, CSV, JSON, DOCX, XLSX, XLS, PDF, HTML
- When uploading files, you can click “Show Advanced Settings” to customize the following configurations:

- Specify Language
Choose the language of the file content to ensure that the correct language model is used for subsequent retrieval. Supports multiple languages. - Replace Spaces, Line Breaks, and Tabs
Choose whether to automatically replace spaces, line breaks, and tabs in the file for better compatibility with the search engine. - Delete URLs and Emails
Enable this feature to automatically remove URLs and email addresses from files to prevent sensitive information leaks. - Custom Segmentation Markers
Set segmentation markers according to the file content for more accurate content retrieval. - Retrieval Mode
Select the retrieval method (semantic retrieval, full-text retrieval, or hybrid retrieval) to optimize result matching.- Semantic Retrieval: Query based on semantic understanding, focusing on the meaning behind the query.
- Full-text Retrieval: Word-by-word matching of query terms, results depend on the accuracy of input.
- Hybrid Retrieval: Combines semantic and full-text retrieval, balancing understanding and accuracy.
- Re-ranking
Decide whether to re-rank recalled entries when returning results to ensure the most relevant answers are at the top. - Recall Number Settings
Set the maximum number of entries recalled per query (range 5–20).
Recall Number Explanation
- More Recall Entries
Advantage: Broader coverage, higher flexibility
Disadvantage: Information redundancy, complex sorting, higher system load
- Fewer Recall Entries
Advantage: Higher precision, faster response speed
Disadvantage: Insufficient coverage, possible omission of key information

- After completing the settings:
- Click “Confirm” → File successfully added to the knowledge list
- Click “Cancel” → Return to the knowledge list page
2.4 List Management
On the knowledge base page, you can manage the knowledge content list parsed from uploaded files:
- Filter
Filter by knowledge name, file type, parsing status, creation time, update time.
- Knowledge Name: The uploaded file name, duplicates not allowed.
- File Type: Supports DOCX, XLSX, MDX, TXT, Markdown, PDF, CSV, HTML, XLS, unknown
- Parsing Status: Parsing, Queued, Uploading, Completed
- Creation Time: Supports range filtering (maximum 1 month)
- Update Time: Supports range filtering (maximum 1 month)
- Set Columns

Field Settings: Customize displayed columns (such as knowledge name, file type, creation time, etc.), supports single/multiple selection

Operation Settings: Edit operations
- Refresh
Click the “Refresh” button to update the content displayed in the knowledge base list and ensure you see the latest data. - Batch Delete
- Batch delete knowledge content displayed on the current page
- Click “Clear” to cancel batch deletion
- Add View
Create different views as needed to precisely display files by setting conditions.
Click the “+” at the top of the list to add a view.
